“Soulless” is a dark comedy-drama based on the bestselling novel “Soulless: Tale of an Unreal Man” by Sergey Minaev. 29-year-old Max has a successful career as a top manager and a lifestyle that many young people would envy. He lives in a penthouse, drives expensive cars, goes partying in nightclubs with beautiful girls. But one day he meets Yuliya, a university student and social activist. Together they overcome some dangerous situations, which change both of their lives.
Reviews:
“… Secrecy and hedonism are two characteristics that dominate associations with the nulevye (period from 2000 to 2010). “Soulless” takes a highly moralistic stance on the nulevye. A chance meeting with university student/activist Iulia (Mariia Andreeva) less than fifteen minutes into the film pushes Maks (main character) to radically reevaluate his penthouse lifestyle and his former friendships, leading him to the film’s concluding message: “It’s only money.” -Alyssa DeBlasio, «Kinokultura»
Awards:
Nominated for “Best film”, Best Director” at the Golden Eagle award, Russia, 2012
Golden Eagle Award – Best Actor – Danila Kozlovsky, 2012
