“Admiral” is a historical drama. It’s a story of the life, love, and death of Aleksandr Kolchak, an admiral in the Imperial Russian Navy and hero of WWI. Kolchak falls in love with Anna Timireva – the young wife of his friend and deputy. Kolchak and Anna try to resist their passion at first, and lose each other during the chaotic events of the Russian Revolution, but they eventually reunite, in Siberia, where Kolchak is fighting the Bolsheviks. Their love and faith are tested during the dramatic events of the war and revolution.
Reviews:
«Admiral is an interesting example of the new Russian popular cinema that is now emerging in one of the fastest growing cinema markets in the world.» –The case for Global Film
«The Admiral attempts regards our attitudes to Russian filmmaking overall. Not only are we invited, in somewhat unsubtle terms, to reconsider our feelings towards Tsarist ne’er-do-wells; we’re also told that Russian cinematography (the very tool used to restate these sentimentally proper truths) has long since strayed from the straight and narrow” -David MacFadyen «KinoKultura»
